How do I play Reels in the feed?

On Pro, open Feeds, go to Layout and turn on Play Reels in the feed. Click Save.

Reels then play muted while they’re on screen, and pause when shoppers scroll away. A Reel only downloads when it first comes into view, so it doesn’t slow down the page.

Notes

• Note: Playing Reels in the feed is a Pro feature; on Free the switch says Play Reels in the feed (Pro). You can turn it on to try it in the preview, and saving asks you to start Pro or save without it. See Why do I see a Pro feature message when saving?.
• Note: On Free, and after Pro ends, Reels play in the popup when shoppers open them.
• Note: Reels don’t autoplay for shoppers who turn on reduce motion or data saver on their device. They see the cover picture instead.
• Note: In the popup, Reels always play (muted, with controls), whether this setting is on or off.
• Note: A Reel plays once it has been copied to your Shopify Files. See Why does a Reel show a picture instead of playing?.
